The National State of Disaster, which facilitated the SRD grant, came to an end in April 2022. However, the Department of Social Development has been working on a regulatory framework for the payment of the grant since President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the extension of the grant.
The SASSA R350 grant’s new legislative framework has additional qualifying and assessment criteria, which is why recipients have to reapply if they’ve previously received assistance.
“Fortunately, the entire application system remains a purely digital process, thereby enabling quick access and turnaround times,” said the department.

Whilst SRD payments have resumed from mid-June 2022, note that there are currently no fixed SASSA R350 payment dates for July (as below) as they won’t be distributed by the post office any longer.
However, beneficiaries will be able to collect their SRD grant payment from these SASSA Payment Points.
Furthermore, you must still do your SASSA status check for R350 payment dates, to ensure you’re still registered to receive your payment this month.

- Just make sure your ID number and the phone number used to apply is available and handy.
- Click on the above link above. Fill the spaces provided with your ID number and phone number respectively.
- There is small button labeled with “send pin”, click on it.
- Within minute, you will receive SMS alert that contains the pin code.
- Enter the pin code received in the space provided and submit.
- Here choose the month from the form that you wish to know its status check.
- If declined, or approved or still pending.\
